「我相信美國應該全力以赴，在十年之內達成這項目標：將人類送上月球，然後讓他安全返回地球。」

1961年5月25日，美國總統甘迺迪在國會參、眾兩院聯席會議發表演說，正式啟動阿波羅登月計畫。8年之後，目標達成，只可惜甘迺迪墓木已拱，無緣見證國家的無上榮耀。
